The value of accountable MPs
The Uncoditional Voting system would return MPs that are accountable to their voters. This allows many opportunities to hold curent MPs to account with messaging that describes their lack of democratic legitimacy. Local campaigns in target seats and potential target seats can message more effectively to empower those voters that matter most under FPTP. Yvetter Cooper would be an exaple of this.
Cooper is likely to lose her seat at the next GE anyway, but if she were effectively mandated in the first place she would also be less likely to act in ways that make her re-election less likely.
While this campaign is primarily concerned with reforming elections to the Commons, the Lords and local election are also in need of reform. Democratic legitimacy is no less important for those institutions, and the public demand for accountable politics would also provide popularity to support mandates for those reforms.
